Ok, folks, here it is. My first BLOG!! It seems as though everyone who is anyone in the adoption journey has a blog. I've never thought I'd be interesting enough to actually have a blog, but here it is. My attempt to connect to people I know, and some I don't know, and a place where anyone who cares can come to check on our (SLOW) progress.
Here's where we stand today:
On December 5th Tod and I were officially accepted to our placement agency. On the 9th, we were accepted to our Home Study agency, and began thinking "ohmygod, where are we going to come up with the money to do this?!!". The same day we found out Tod had to have heart surgery... Now, instead of posting on our adoption process - I'll save that for later - I'll use this as a place to update you all on how Tod and I are doing durning this very stressful time. So, on to the upadate...
Tod's surgery is scheduled for January 24th. We go for more tests on the 23rd, and then check him into the hospital on the 24th in the morning. He'll have the open heart surgery in the afternoon that will last into the early evening. He'll be in the ICU overnight, and in to the next day. If all is well, he'll be in a private room for the next 4 or 5 days.
I'll post an update on the 24th or the 25th to let y'all know how it goes. We do have family coming in to help, at least for the first week. After taht, it's just us and the few friends we still have. Feel free to phone me if you would like to chat, or offer support, but I'm not likely calling anyone until I feel stronger. It's a very emotional time and it's sometime hard for me to reach out to folks.
