Don't give up on me!!!

I've not posted not b/c I've been terribly busy (although I have stayed pretty busy), but mainly b/c I don't have much to post that's new. The weather here has been absolutly WONDERFUL, and I've spent nearly every afternoon (after work) out in the yard working on the lawn (it's actually looking like real grass!!), my flower gardens, and my veggie/herb garden. I'll try to get out and take some pix, since it's finally looking nice!

Last night I did something that was a lot of fun; I went on a plant "rescue". I got together with a member of the "Save NC Plants Society" (or something like that) and we trecked up to an area that in the next few months will be totally bull-dozed over in the name of progress. Meanwhile it's a LOVELY wooded area that is home to some very special native NC plants. In fact, we saw a wonderful (blooming!) pink lady's slipper. We left it alone, aside from admiring it. They don't transplant well, and we coulodn't bring ourselves to dig it knowing it would die. I got some great new plants for my (newly developed) native shade garden. I managed to rescue some wild arrow-leaf ginger, fly poison, Carolina lilly, and wild blueberry, among a few others. It was a lot of fun, since I don't really get out into the woods much these days, and while it wasn't Home (WV), it was nice.

Also, I spent some time over the weekend planning May. We're totally booked up!! With UP's birthday, Tod's birthday, and MY birthday, plus Tod's family is comeing - that takes 2 weekends - OH MY!!! Good times!!

Lazy times

I've been having a busy week, but a good one. I haven't blogged much 'cause I have been feeling lazy about being on the computer... I'll try to blog some this weekend!

Turf

Ok, not the most exciting topic on a day like today (hey hey, Friday the 13th!), but there it is. I'm picking up some turf for my research experiment today, and the left over bits will go into our still-evolving mini-golf-course!!! We are likely going to be able to finish the 3rd hole this week (after I've used what I need at work first!!). Then we'll have an unveiling. I think that means a party. We've already named the first 2 holes, and are taking suggestions for the 3rd. I'd even post the hole names if I could remember then right now...which I can not.

Anyway, who knew working with grass would be so much fun??!!!

I'm still here!

I'm around. I haven't posted for a few days since I've been working long hours and not had anything of any interest to post about. Mainly I'm really disappointed at the further increasing wait times for the adoption and Tod and I are starting to consider other options...We'd still adopt Baby M, but we'd like to do something in the interm. We're looking at Taiwan...More on this later...

(Phil said I have to post about him....so here, Phil is cool, cute, and smelly...we like him anyway). There, I've posted about Phil.

It came!!! Whoo-hoo!!

So, I did indeed receive my mini-apron today!! It is ABSOLUTLY adorable!!!! It's so perfect!! And I can't WAIT to see my daughter in it in a few years (since I too am miniless!). I'll put it away with her other special stuff. Too bad it won't fit me. LOL. Anyway, thanks tons to my uber sweet secret-no-more pal, Mary.

The green, blue, and marbled one is the one I sent to my SP.

Apron Swap - update

So, folks, remember I mentioned I joined an apron swap?? Well, I did mention it awhile ago, to be sure. Here's a refresher: Mini apron swap
I signed up for a fun and crafty (read= freakishly crafty and really really creative for everyone else but me) online apron and recipe swap. We all signed up and got "secret pals" for whom we were to make a customized themed apron (in this case, a little apron for a child) along with several favorite recipes.

I have nothing to post as of right this minute. Two reasons:

1) I am lame, and forgot the picture of my apron I made for my secret pal on my desk-top computer...I am currently separated from said computer, so y'all will have to wait to see my (little attempt at a boy's) apron. Don't get me wrong. I LOVED making it, and thought I did a good job, but WOW have I been TOTALLY out done by nearly everyone else in the swap. Y'all make really nice stuff. This was only my second ever apron, and I was making it for a boy, so I wanted something NOT girly! I liked it a lot, but I didn't have as much time to hand-make the recipe cards as I would have liked... anyway, I hope it works. I WILL post pix next week.

And 2) I haven't received my apron. I don't know who my SP is, but plan on tracking them down and stalking their blog in a hopes of catching a glimps of the apron...I'm sure it's waiting at my local PO, since there was no mail today, I'll likley get it tomorrow (I can hope!!). Until then, well, consider me drunk on the steps of this little party, and I'll join the festivites as soon as I get up off my butt... now, where did I put that bottle of gin...?

I plan on joining the next swap, and I will endevour to be more creative at this apron-making-stuff. (Actually, I have a GREAT new pattern for a fun one!! I can't wait to try my hand!!).
