Heart surgery news

We just got back from the surgeon's office. It's pretty bad; we have to have more tests, and then have the surgery in the next 3 months.

Cold, and rainy, with 100 % chance of cuteness

It's been bloody FREEZING cold and crappy rainy here. Last week was beautiful, until about Thursday when the cold moved in and the rain came... It's been 40-ish here and a solid steady rain since Friday. That didn't stop me from being out at work on an experiment we have running at a field-site about 10 minutes away. I got soaking wet yesterday, and then today I got smart and actually dressed for the weather. Then, because the weather was so nice, I spent 1.5 hours out walking my golf course. You should have seen me after I got done! Talk about a drowned rat!!!

Anyway, I'm back home now hanging with my fav little fellow, and enjoying being inside. We are just hanging out, reading a few books, playing with various objects de kitchen, and chasing the dogs around the house.

Really, I'm just posting as an excuse to put up more MM pictures. Enjoy!!

Nesh = less work today due to Facebook, damn it!

Ok, folks. I finally did it. I joined Facebook. Can I just say how LITTLE work I got done for like the first hour after I signed on today??? After that I got bored and annoyed, so I got back to REAL work. TG. I just don't know if I need to be connected with so many people. It's not that I don't love them, it's mainly that I can see how EASY it would be to get wrapped up in checking out everything everyday. Well, I guess it's not a terrible thing 'cause today is the last day of my work "freedom"; my boss has been out of the country for the last 2 weeks and it has been great in the sense that I've had fairly normal work days, and I have gotten TONS of work done. TONS. In fact, today I have one item left on my desk (just about everything else is DONE!!!) and I HATE this one item and don't want to do it. So, I think I'm going to go home early instead of doing this one last thing.... Anyway, after tomorrow it will be business as usual which means my work life is no longer my own. And I will go back to "the girl who can't read her personal email bc she doesn't sit still long enough". I even have a blackberry (which I love dearly), but don't have my personal email on it, and sadly, this is really the only way I can even keep up with my work account!!

Well, I have nothing new to report, other than I have been pretty tight-lipped about the Heat Surgery thing. We have had an update which is not as positive as the first one. The long and the short of it is that we go on Monday to the surgeon to talk about surgery again. And it will likely be soon. I'll post more on Monday if I get around to it.

goofy shots - but smiles a plenty!

(Notice in one of these photos, we see a re-occurrence of the Salad Ninja...I don't think we've seen the last of the Salad Ninja after all...and yes, he does his best work with out pants on)

My son, Mr. Adorable.

I have said it before, and I will say it again. I kid is the most awesome little dude. He not only is smart as can be, but has LOADS of personality. Even though he still has his terrible-two moments, he is still so uber fun and cool. I hate to admit this, but I came home late the last two nights, and even though in the past, I've been a stickler for getting MM to bed on a schedule, I have kept him up WAY past his bedtime so we could hang out and play. (He went to bed about 9 both nights. oops!).

He is also doing just great. He picks up language very very fast (which means I now REALLY have to watch my language!), and is into EVERYTHING. He's about 10 seconds from figuring out how to open the doors. He's got it down, and likes to pull his step-stool (yes, he has his own step-stool) over to things and get into things he wasn't able to reach before. I hate to stop him mainly because I like to watch how he figures things out and I am fascinated by it!! But once he "has" something, he "has" it!! so i guess I need to be careful with what I let him figure out!! (like the door thing). Oh, well. I will just need to teach him to close it after himself...and if he decides to take a walk, he should take a dog with him. ;->

Baby chicks and little ball players

The weather here is stunningly beautiful. 78 to 80 degrees. We've spent a LOT of time outside working in the yard, garden, and M and I even worked on my golf course for 3 hours yesterday! It's been a pretty good weekend all-in-all.

Sadly, I don't have any good outside pictures with the little duder in them, but I have a few of the new chicks (although those aren't great either!). Enjoy.

Salad Ninja

Ok, this is one of those totally "you had to be there" things. But Basically, MM put this little "outfit" together, complete with salad "tongs". He HAD HAD HAD to have the hat, the blanket, AND the tongs this morning (this was Friday morning, not actually today, which is Saturday). Anyway, when he was running around the house, with his hat, blanket, and salad sticks, he kept brandishing his salad tongs...hence the term "Salad Ninja".

Ok, it was cute and funny at the time. Really it was!!!

(And yes, I look like hell. MM has been waking up WAY to early and I was luck to have clean clothes on at this point, and finding time to put on even a hint of makeup was not even an option... even though now that I see these pictures, I realize that it might be a necessity in the future!)

A little behind with pictures, but...

A few pictures from when we went Home to the Farm to relax. The MM got sick (poor little fellow!) and even when he was too sick to hold his little head up, he still hammed it up for the camera (that's him sick in the first picture).

another "you know you are sleep deprived when..." story

So, yesterday morning I had one of those mornings that I really needed a "get out of parenting free" card. It all began at 5:00 a.m. when MM woke up and asked for a bottle. This is a good thing, because he used to just wake up and scream bloody-murder. Now that he has learned to express himself better, the screaming in the middle of the night (or early in the morning) has been dramatically reduced...unless I don't have a bottle handy, of course. Which, I didn't. So I had to get out of bed, illiciting much more yelling... I finally get back to bed, with the bottle, and my wonderful son takes the bottle, drinks about 3 drinks from it and then flings it across the room. The good news is he did go back to sleep, although I could not. So, I lay in bed thinking about all the work I have to do, all the bills that need to be paid, all the crap that you think about when you can't sleep at that hour of the morning (which doesn't help you fall back to sleep at all, does it!?)...

Finally, Little Man wakes up and pops out of bed. It's about 7:15, not too bad - and he hits the ground like a greyhound chasing a rabbit. I struggle out of bed, put the coffee pot on, and proceed to chase the Minute around the house in order to get him dressed. You see, apparently, he didn't feel like getting dressed even though it was 17 degrees outside, which means it was also cold in the house. Although it must be said, he did have his Crocs on, 'cause no self-respecting streaker goes streaking across the house w/out his Crocs! Finally, I chase him down, somehow manage to get him dressed and fed, and around 8:15 DH walks in the door. TG! I hand the Carpet Grub over to his dad saying something like "I need a shower. Where's my coffee?"

I'm on my way to the shower when I hear DH ask "Why is MM all wet?". All wet, indeed. Did he spill his juice..no, he didn't have any. Play in the dog water? Nope, it was frozen solid...So, I stopped for a second to see why MM was all wet. In my haste to dress my son (and get a cup of coffee), I had forgotten one very important part of his outfit - the diaper.

So, outfit change #2 occurred much faster than usual yesterday because someone was a little sleep deprived...

Is it Friday yet?

Bed head

I haven't had time to post much, but I do try to keep the photos of Mr. Cute coming. This kid is so easy to photograph (as long as I stay far enough away that he can't grab the camera!), and there just isn't enough room on the internet to post all the wonderful pictures of this little fellow. Anyway, here are a few more pictures of Himself, King of Adorable.

As for what's going on around here...well, I'm doing very well. I've graduated from therapy every 2 weeks, to once a month (yeah!). I don't really need to go at all anymore since I have FINALLY started to feel better about my life as a Mom, but it is still nice to have someone listen to what ever you say no matter how silly, snarky, or selfish it is. I spent most of the time yesterday talking about well, the basic stress that occurs in ones life when ones husband is told to expect heart surgery in the very near future (a good reason in-and-of-itself to keep going to therapy) and the other thing I talked about - other than how much I love my job and my kiddo - was how jealous I was that my boss was going to London and France this week without me. He was taking his wife (go figure), and well, this isn't a work trip I have anything to do with... BUT STILL!!! They could have left me in London and I would have been happy! Anyway, I'm running the show for the next week and some change and I'm both looking forward to it and terrified!!

Lets see...what else... oh, I got 6 baby chicks!!! I'm down to 3 adult chickens and went to buy 2 new adult chickens, and came home with no adult layers and 6 chicks!! I'll get some pix this weekend to show y'all. MM loves them, as do the dogs. We call them "Dog TV", 'cause the pups can sit and stare at them for HOURS!!!!! It's really funny.

Anyway, we've had 17 degree weather today, and tomorrow it is supposed to go up to 68, and then Friday all the way up into the mid-70's. TG!!! I am so sick of this cold crappy weather. I'm desperate for some sunshine. And MM LOVES outside, so I'm sure we'll have tons more out-of-doors photos to post.

(and, on the above photos, no, that's not drool in the last picture. It's peach juice!! And how especially cute is he in that second photo!?)
