another "you know you are sleep deprived when..." story

So, yesterday morning I had one of those mornings that I really needed a "get out of parenting free" card. It all began at 5:00 a.m. when MM woke up and asked for a bottle. This is a good thing, because he used to just wake up and scream bloody-murder. Now that he has learned to express himself better, the screaming in the middle of the night (or early in the morning) has been dramatically reduced...unless I don't have a bottle handy, of course. Which, I didn't. So I had to get out of bed, illiciting much more yelling... I finally get back to bed, with the bottle, and my wonderful son takes the bottle, drinks about 3 drinks from it and then flings it across the room. The good news is he did go back to sleep, although I could not. So, I lay in bed thinking about all the work I have to do, all the bills that need to be paid, all the crap that you think about when you can't sleep at that hour of the morning (which doesn't help you fall back to sleep at all, does it!?)...

Finally, Little Man wakes up and pops out of bed. It's about 7:15, not too bad - and he hits the ground like a greyhound chasing a rabbit. I struggle out of bed, put the coffee pot on, and proceed to chase the Minute around the house in order to get him dressed. You see, apparently, he didn't feel like getting dressed even though it was 17 degrees outside, which means it was also cold in the house. Although it must be said, he did have his Crocs on, 'cause no self-respecting streaker goes streaking across the house w/out his Crocs! Finally, I chase him down, somehow manage to get him dressed and fed, and around 8:15 DH walks in the door. TG! I hand the Carpet Grub over to his dad saying something like "I need a shower. Where's my coffee?"

I'm on my way to the shower when I hear DH ask "Why is MM all wet?". All wet, indeed. Did he spill his juice..no, he didn't have any. Play in the dog water? Nope, it was frozen solid...So, I stopped for a second to see why MM was all wet. In my haste to dress my son (and get a cup of coffee), I had forgotten one very important part of his outfit - the diaper.

So, outfit change #2 occurred much faster than usual yesterday because someone was a little sleep deprived...

Is it Friday yet?
